Spirit Abreast Team Protocol

Our Mission:

To raise breast cancer awareness and to demonstrate that women living with breast cancer can lead full and active lives.

As a team member of Spirit Abreast, I commit to the following:

Team Membership Fee:

An annual, non-refundable fee must be submitted to the Treasurer. Further individual team member expenses could include travel expenses, team shirts, personal boating gear, etc.

Team Commitments and Obligations:

• I recognize that I am an advocate for our mission and message at all times and I will undertake to promote the objectives of our organization whenever possible.
• I recognize that this is a volunteer-run organization and I am prepared to participate and to support the organization in any way that I can. This includes taking an active role in all fundraising events.
• All fundraising ideas are to be discussed by the Fundraising Committee and then acted upon by the Team.
• I understand that I cannot expend any funds on behalf of the Team without the prior approval of the Executive and that the Executive will carry out Team expenditures.
• I will respond appropriately and in a timely fashion to communications via e-mail, telephone or in person by the Executive, Captain, Coach, or the Team Manager.
• I understand that pertinent decisions for the Team will not be made without a prior vote by the Team at a scheduled meeting.
• I understand that I am part of a team. I have responsibilities to my teammates and I will contribute to a positive environment in the boat, in person, and at sporting or promotional events.
• I recognize that fitness is a year-long commitment. I will regularly attend and take part in scheduled gym classes and/or equivalent fitness programs.
• I will do my utmost to attend all scheduled paddle practices and will notify the appropriate contact as soon as I know that I am unable to attend.
• All concerns and/or ideas pertaining to any aspect of the Team are to be presented to the Executive, written and signed, either in person or via e-mail. These concerns/ideas will then be part of the agenda for a future meeting where they will be addressed and attended to accordingly.
• I will notify the President in writing if I can no longer be part of the Team. The Executive will then send a written confirmation to any member who has decided to leave the Team.
